Sessions are listed in the order of the agenda.
Special Interest Classes
Brenda has mastered the art of engagement through her use of camps and special interest classes in her studio. In this session, Brenda will share how special interest classes can be taught online or in person to create fun and unique ways to engage students and expand their skills.
Accompaniment 2
With its minimalist 12-page Reference Book, Accompaniment 2 is unbelievably jam-packed with content, including advanced rhythm tracks, inversions, scale, key signature, and other theory components. We'll unpack as much of it as time allows and discuss how to incorporate it into your upper level classes.

Robin will share with you the best practices for copywriting, web design, and creating a seamless customer experience online. Comp & Improv Advanced
Ready to do more with the Comp & Improv Program? Explore the path forward to developing advanced projects with students who are ready for new ideas and exciting challenges in developing their generative skills.
Solo Arrangements from Lead Sheets
This is a wonderful upper-level skill to teach your students, utilizing skills from several different programs. There is currently no Teacher Training on this topic. Laurie will quickly review the projects covered at the 2021 Retreat, then dive into some more advanced projects. You'll get the most of this session if you first review the 2021 session. If you do not have access to the 2021 session, you may purchase it in the Ivory League Store if you wish.
Working with Level 9+ Students
If you have students in L9 and beyond, many of them may be teenagers with other activities and demands on their time. Having taken dozens of teenagers through Levels 9-18, Robin will discuss specific strategies for supporting them and their progress when it feels slow or even stagnant.
Jazz Clues: Overview and JC 1&2
Laurie will share the scope of the entire Jazz Clues Program and demonstrate each of the four Jazz Clues. Then we'll dive into Jazz Clues 1 & 2, which are solo arrangements. This session is appropriate for teachers who haven't yet taught Jazz Clues or would benefit from additional insight on clues 1 and 2.
Jazz Clues 3 & 4
These clues present basic chord voicing and rhythm for jazz ensemble playing. Laurie will review the clues, then share additional resources for getting even more out of these projects - includes understanding chord alterations and simple substitutions (JC3), and some extra "dropping in" exercises (JC4).
Reading Beyond TFMM
If you're wondering exactly what to do after Time for More Music, this is for you. We'll look at sourcing new generative projects, moving into the Development Levels with momentum and ease. We'll also talk about assessing students' reading progress and establishing appropriate expectations.
